Lee,
We looked at several systems and liked the Data911 system. Our IT man looked the system over and liked it so we now have 3 installed and hoping to finish the last two vehicles next year. While Data911 was by no means the cheapest item on the market, we believe that the quality will outperform anything else we looked at.
We can see the increase conviction rates on traffic citations and OMVI arrests, as well as good evidence on some criminal cases. This along with the protection offered to our officers against any false complaint or to know if an officer steps over the line. I can see so many uses down the road and we will explore all of them as time goes by.
We are starting to get the bugs worked out and officers are getting use to them, so I see lots of assistance by the camera partner in the car.

Abigail:
For many, many good reasons I am retiring. Although my official date is June 2, 2011, I walk out the door on March 3rd. For many years, Data911 has been our most significant vendor because of the critical nature of the services you provide. During my time as Director, Data911 has done a marvelous job with the Antioch PD. I won't pretend it has been seamless but our relationship has gone from frosty to extremely good.
We finally saw the light and accepted Data911 as a legitimate vendor when Roland took a more active part in our activities. Thank you very much for whatever you did to make that happen. I wish you personally all the best as well as your company.

'06 Charger - Customer reports Data911 Display intact after impact! No injuries...
I've attached a few photos of an '06 Charger front end collision with airbag deployment. The images show the airbag zone as it compares with our mounting solution. We are using a Jotto Desk console with the monitor being mounted dead center. I inspected the monitor, keyboard, and all mounts and everything appeared to be in working order and undamaged.
When we went to the Chargers, monitor and keyboard placement was a big debate. Had we installed the monitor inside the passenger area, I feel the airbag would have taken the monitor out and caused some issues inside the cab.

Police Car Upgrade for Ballwin, MO
Ballwin Police Chief Steve Schicker on Sept. 21 sent a memorandum to City Administrator Bob Kuntz recommending that the computers in some of the city's police cars be replaced with new units, after an informal survey was conducted with Ballwin police officers.
Currently, there are 19 cars within the police fleet that employ in-car computers. Twelve have Panasonic Toughbooks purchased in 2005-2007, while the other seven have Data911 units purchased in 2008-2009.
After survey results showed Ballwin police officers overwhelmingly preferred the Data911 in-car computers, Schicker recommended the purchase of additional Data911 units because they are more compact and less obtrusive to the front-seat passenger; more ergonomically- and user-friendly; more durable; more likely to reduce injury in the event of an air bag deployment; and more likely to increase officer safety in tactical and crash situations.
Officers were impressed also with Data911 touch screen monitor and backlit keyboard features. While Data911 units are more expensive than the Panasonic Toughbooks, funds have been budgeted in 2010 to replace the older laptops.

We have several Data 911 MDTs in our squads. The units are all in Ford Crown Vic's, ranging in age from 2006 to 2010.
We really like the MDT's we have in use. They have had to be one of the most painless changes in relatively major equipment that I have experienced in over 27 years. You have a great product and I feel much better knowing that one of the Officers is not going to be hurt by a laptop in crash.
Thanks,

We use these [M6] at the Minneapolis Police Department; when you combine ease of use and airbag friendly mounting that allows for more room for the officer(s), these units far exceed the vehicle mounted laptop.
