Message
Switch (MS)
Over the past 21 years, Data911 has written numerous interfaces from its CAD
and RMS systems to many law enforcement computer systems. The interfaces are
managed by Data911’s Message Switch, often communicating with on-site,
city, county and state message switches. Data911’s MS can interface
over a variety of protocols, including but not limited to:
Various TCP/IP protocols
Various serial line protocols
Various SNA-based IBM networking protocols
Other proprietary protocols, such as DECnet
MS is not a component directly used by everyday users. It runs as a background process or “daemon” on the Data911 Communications Controller computer, an OpenVMS server. In a typical installation, MS is the interface for the E911 data and the communications to the city/county databases, CLETS, and NCIC.
